JAKARTA, Indonesia, Oct. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Archipelago International, Southeast Asia's largest privately owned and independent hotel management group, recently entered into a first of its kind partnership with Grab, the leading everyday everything app in Southeast Asia.

'GrabWheels' is an on-demand scooter sharing service, that rents environmentally-friendly e-scooters through the Grab mobile app. Dedicated pick-up and drop-off electrical charging stations have been installed across the many Archipelago hotels, encouraging hotel guests and residents alike to rent the scooters and take advantage of an environmentally-friendly, zero-carbon and time-effective urban transportation method.

E-Scooters, charging stations and safety helmets are provided and fully maintained by Grab for a fun and safe ride experience, while the hotels provide strategic locations for the stations. Considering, that Archipelago has the largest number of hotels in Indonesia, the Group continues to improve the quality of life for Indonesians, not only by providing a good night sleep and a nice meal - but also by creating a new mobility network now.

John Flood, President and CEO of Archipelago International commented: 'We are the first hotel operator to enter into such a partnership, demonstrating once again Archipelago's innovative and sustainable company culture. Enhancing guest experience through technological advancement while reducing the impact on the environment and making a sustainable difference in the locations where we live and work is a wonderful thing to do. E-Scooters are very energy efficient, while improving overall mobility without increasing emissions. They have been hugely popular in other parts of the world and we are very excited to be part of this global movement with our green partner Grab.'

TJ Tham, GrabWheels CEO further commented, 'As the leading everyday everything app in Southeast Asia, we are committed to provide solutions for our users and partners to improve their quality of life. We have seen a great enthusiasm for GrabWheels as the option of fun and affordable short-distance transportation. We are very happy with the enthusiasm and pleased to be partnering with Archipelago International to bring GrabWheels to more customers in the region.'
