Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs JENESYS 2019 ASEAN Inbound Program 17th Batch

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fourteen young Judo players from Myanmar are scheduled to visit Japan from January 21st to 29th, 2020 as part of the Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs, “JENESYS 2019” promoted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA).



They will visit Tokyo, Saitama, and Kanagawa to experience international program under the theme of “Sports Exchange (Judo)”. In Tokyo, they will visit Olympic Museum, the Japanese Sword Museum, Nippon Sports Science University, and other facilities. In addition, they will have exchange programs with Judo players at Kodokan Judo Institute to learn more about Judo and networking through Judo. In Saitama, they will visit Tsurugashima City, which is one of the Host Town of Myanmar for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, to have a lecture about the Host Town Initiative and visit Josai University to join Judo practice to improve their Judo skill and increase their interests in Japan. Furthermore, they will experience Japanese culture through home stay program in Chichibu City and Zen meditation activities at Soji-ji temple in Kanagawa to have better understanding of Japanese culture.


Through this program, we hope the friendly relationship between Japan and Brunei will be strengthen, and the participants proactively share the appeals of Japan and its culture which they experienced in Japan after returning to home country.

People with the ability and future mission to deliver messages between Japan and the countries and regions of Asia and Oceania are invited and dispatched in order to promote an understanding of Japan with regard to politics, economics, society, culture, history, foreign policy, and the like, and pro-Japanese people and experts on Japan are discovered in order to strengthen Japan’s message to other countries and expand Japan’s diplomatic foundation by having the guests and dispatches take the initiative to spread information about the diplomatic stance, appeals, and other facets of Japan.

In order to contribute to making Japan a "Sports Nation", encouraging globalization, revitalization of local areas and promoting inbound tourism toward the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Japanese government promotes the "Host Town Initiative " all over Japan, in which local authorities work on human, economic and cultural exchanges with the participating countries/regions.
