The 27th Busan International Film Festival Accepts Submissions

The 27th edition of Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), scheduled for October 5 (Wed) to October 14 (Fri) 2022, is now accepting submissions.

- Applications are open till June 22 (Wed) 18:00 KST for short films and till July 20 (Wed) 18:00 KST for feature films

With successful preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic last year, BIFF received much accolades from the audiences and filmmakers, and the 27th BIFF is now accepting submissions from March 30 (Wed).

Films of fiction, documentary and animation, which are produced since October 2021, are eligible to submit. All submissions are subject to the eligibility criteria set out in 2 categories; the Short Film up to 60 minutes and the Feature Film of 60 minutes or longer.
Online applications are available at the festival’s official website (www.biff.kr/eng/). The deadline for registration of short films is June 22 (Wed) 18:00 KST and the deadline for features is July 20 (Wed) 18:00 KST.

Started in 1996, the Busan International Film Festival is active in bolstering the growth and globalization of Korean and Asian cinema. It has discovered diverse films that show great achievements in major film festivals around the world.

The Apartment with Two Women (2021) directed by Kim Se-in, which received 5 awards including New Currents Award at the last BIFF edition, has been officially selected for Berlinale Panorama 2022; Memoryland (2021) directed by Kim Quy Bui, another New Currents selection, has been invited to Berlinale Forum 2022; Hot in Day, Cold at Night (2021) directed by Park Songyeol, official selection of Korea Cinema Today – Vision, went to Berlinale Forum as well.

Three (2020) directed by Ruslan Pak which won the New Currents Award at the 25th BIFF, Moving On (2019) directed by Yoon Danbi, and House of Hummingbird (2018) directed by Kim Bora are the notable accomplishments started off with BIFF. They have been standing out in the prestigious festivals around the world.

For the past 26 years, BIFF has discovered and presented emerging films to global audiences. This year, BIFF is preparing for its 27th edition to fulfill its intended role of discovering fine works that connect film and audiences.
BIFF will manage a safe festival that prioritizes the health and safety of audiences and filmmakers a top priority.
