AccuWeather Vice President of Information Security Dr. Claudia Natanson has been awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s Jubilee Honors List for contributions to the field of cyber security.

The MBE honor, first established by King George during World War I in 1917, is the third highest ranking Order of the British Empire award, behind Commander of the British Empire (CBE) and Officer of the British Empire (OBE).

Natanson, a recognized top technology influencer by London’s Financial Times, one of Security Magazine’s “2022 Top Cyber Security Leaders" and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the UK Cyber Security Council, is a highly respected and distinguished digital and cyber security transformation expert within the international arena. Her experience and expertise cover diverse industry sectors, Fortune 500, government, and growing organizations.

Said Natanson, “It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by the Queen as an MBE among such a distinguished field of colleagues and peers representing the highest degree of expertise in our respective fields. I am sure my body of work will only continue to grow stronger with the support of this recent accolade, community and especially alongside the sustaining work being done at AccuWeather.”

Natanson was also recently named by IFSEC Global, the pre-eminent news source for security and fire safety, as #1 on its list of top "Influencers in Security” for 2022 in the category of Cybersecurity Professionals, playing a key role in technological innovation, driving best practices for regulation and standards, shaping global debate and helping to raise the industry’s profile. She has been instrumental in her role at AccuWeather, the world’s most accurate and most used source of weather forecasts and warnings.

Joining AccuWeather in 2021, Natanson previously held positions at Security Practitioners as Founder and Chair of GlobalCEP, Security, and as Digital Transformation Strategic Advisor at Aramark, Chief Security Officer for the Department for Work and Pensions (UK), Security Strategic Advisor at Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Chief information Security Officer at Diageo and various other roles.

“We continue to be impressed by the incredible work Claudia does at AccuWeather, and this recognition certainly validates our overwhelming confidence in her expertise,” said AccuWeather Chief Data Officer Chris Patti. “Claudia’s vision, experience and considerable knowledge support AccuWeather’s strategy and roadmap for information security, information assurance and cyber defense, as we expand on our own commitment to innovation and safety.”
