Chadwick International (CI, www.chadwickinternational.org), the largest international school in the metropolitan area of Seoul, has named Frederick T. “Ted” Hill as the new Head of School, effective July 1, 2018.

Hill’s appointment will add momentum to CI’s strategic efforts to reinforce its presence as a leading international school in the country, and enhance its leadership in the global education sector.

Hill is well known as the driving force in the creation and startup of CI. He also has served as the Headmaster of Chadwick School in Palos Verdes, Calif., for 18 years. In addition to serving as Head of School at CI, he also will continue in his role as president of the Roessler-Chadwick Foundation (RCF), where he has dedicated himself to increasing Chadwick’s global focus, playing leadership roles in global educational organizations and significantly expanding Chadwick’s national and international reputation.

Regarding his appointment, Hill said, “I am delighted to be joining the outstanding students, faculty, and staff at Chadwick International. Having led Chadwick School for 18 years, it will be exciting to help foster and guide the fulfillment of our Mission in Korea: developing global citizens with keen minds, exemplary character, self-knowledge, and the ability to lead. The energy, ambition, and innovative spirit of CI and its community are striking, and make it a uniquely compelling and rewarding place in which to teach and learn. I look forward to our continued success not only in providing a challenging, holistic, and first-rate education to every CI student, but also to being a fully engaged member of an active contributor to our Korean and East Asian communities.”

Hill has spent more than three decades in K-12 and higher education and administration. He began his teaching and administration career at Graham Eckes Palm Beach Academy in Palm Beach, Fla., where he served as athletic director, dean of students, assistant headmaster and acting headmaster. He became assistant headmaster and director of development at St. Margaret’s School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. He was appointed as the head of Louisville Collegiate School, where he remained until becoming Chadwick’s headmaster in 1998.

Hill earned a master’s degree in education from Harvard University, and also a master’s degree in French language and literature from Middlebury College. He is a graduate of the Phillips Exeter Academy and of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and holds a bachelor’s degree in French and English.

The current Head of School at CI, Shelly Luke Wille, will be returning to her home in San Francisco, Calif., to serve as Head of School at Children’s Day School.
