SHANGHAI, Jan. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- China's leading one-stop healthcare ecosystem platform Ping An Health Medical Technology Company Limited ("Ping An Good Doctor", or the "Company", stock code: 01833.HK) has announced that the "Voiceprint Login System" ("Voiceprint Lock"), jointly developed with Unisound, the leading intelligent voice and language technology company in China, has achieved a login success rate close to 99%. The breakthrough came after several model optimizations and upgrades.
Ping An Good Doctor and Unisound have a long history of cooperation in the field of speech recognition. In December 2017, the two parties jointly established a joint venture, Shanghai Hao Yi Zhi Neng Technology Company Limited to explore the construction of smart family healthcare service terminals based on technologies such as smart speech recognition.
"Voiceprint Lock" is a voiceprint recognition technique that verifies a speaker's identity by sound. After a user has read a short random password, the system quickly identifies the speaker's identity and unlocks their app or phone. Compared with other biometric technologies, voiceprint recognition is relatively easy and convenient to operate by acquiring voices. In April 2018, the "Voiceprint Lock" function was launched on Ping An Good Doctor's App, which is very popular among users.
Although voiceprint recognition has obvious advantages, it is not easy to accurately distinguish different sounds. Spokesperson of Ping An Good Doctor said, "We had to overcome several difficulties to achieve accurate voiceprint recognition. Firstly, the accuracy can be affected by the speaker's condition such as their voice state, health condition and emotional state during the voice recognition process. Secondly, the environment as well as hardware configuration of recognizing and transmitting sounds can also affect the accuracy."
In response to the above technical difficulties, Ping An Good Doctor and Unisound jointly developed a number of technologies, striving to accurately capture human voices and eliminate background noise, and combine this with massive voiceprint data to continuously optimize the model of voiceprint recognition. To date, several iterations have been upgraded to ensure its success and ease of registration and login. At present, the success rate of the Voiceprint Lock is close to 99%, according to the actual usage.
The spokesperson of Ping An Good Doctor also said, the biggest selling points of Voiceprint Lock are how convenient it is to use, especially for the middle-aged and elderly users, along with its strong security. Voiceprint Lock doesn't use the common method of fixed login passwords, but instead uses passwords selected at random to enhance and protect users' account security and privacy.
In addition, in order to provide a real-time response to more than 200 million registered users on the App using the voiceprint technology, the Company's technical team has enhanced the capabilities of the real-time response system through distributed storage and other leading technologies.
