Seoul – GM Employee Foundation Korea (GEFK) yesterday hosted the 2024 Kimchi-Sharing Event at GM Korea's Bupyeong headquarters in Incheon. It was joined by the GM Korea Supplier Association. Following the activity, 200 boxes of kimchi were donated to community welfare centers in the Incheon, Chungnam and Gyeongbuk areas to support the underprivileged.
Participants included GM Korea President and GEFK Chairperson Hector Villarreal, GM International GPSC Vice President Tommy Hosea, GM Korea GPSC Vice President Sunil Bang, Supplier Association President Seung Moon, and volunteers from GM Korea and Suppliers affiliated companies. They worked hand in hand, contributing their service in making and packaging Kimchi with the aim of filling the community with warmth and comfort in the wintertime.
Hector Villarreal remarked, "Sharing Kimchi is one of the key winter initiatives that GM leads to bring warmth to our community during tough times, in partnership with our partner companies. We hope that this contribution will help our neighbors enjoy a healthier and more fulfilling winter, thanks to the Kimchi prepared by GM employees and our partners."
Seung Moon commented, "It's heartening to see GM Korea and its partners joining forces to lend a helping hand to our neighbors in difficult situations. We will continue to create opportunities to embrace and share warmth with underprivileged individuals in our local community."
In particular, for this kimchi-making event, the GM Supplier Association generously contributed KRW 20 million won. This support has enabled us to share greater warmth and foster healthy connections within the community.
GEFK is advancing GM's commitment to social outreach through its annual Kimchi-sharing event, enhancing the well-being of those less fortunate during winter. Since its establishment in 2005, the foundation has donated 278 tons of Kimchi to underprivileged communities and welfare centers in the region. GEFK is dedicated to ensuring those in vulnerable circumstances can experience a comfortable winter.
GM Korea Supplier Association is active in leading annual initiatives that strengthen community spirit in society on a local basis, such as Kimchi and coal briquette sharing during the coldest months of the year. Through these efforts, the association continues to amplify its symbiotic energy with GM Korea and demonstrate its commitment to social responsibility for those most vulnerable.
