Chief Announces Tempo Flat Panel In-Wall Mount System
Chief, a brand of Legrand | AV, is excited to introduce the Tempo™ Flat Panel In-Wall Mount System, the first in-wall mount system of its kind in the industry, in booth C8600 at InfoComm 2024, June 12-14, in Las Vegas. This all-in-one system includes in-wall storage and flat panel mounts that can be purchased and installed to accommodate the stages of construction, from rough-in to AV commissioning. "This all-in-one configurable wall mounting system is designed to improve efficiency by streamlining installation workflow," said Ann Ewoldt, Product Marketing Manager, Chief, Legrand | AV. "AV professionals can increase productivity and add to the bottom line with this new system, especially for mass rollouts. Tempo In-Wall Mount System is thoughtfully designed with feedback from installers for faster deployments." With the new Tempo Flat Panel In-Wall Mount System, contractors can install in-wall boxes with stud tabs kit (FPIWMKIT1) during the rough-in construction phase. The wall mount kit (FPIWMKIT2) can be ordered separately and delivered after wall finishing is complete to add flanges, display mount, and small-device storage plates. An infinite number of horizontal mounting patterns are compatible with the system to accommodate extra-large and some ultrawide displays because in-wall back boxes can be set as far apart as needed to align the flat panel with the mount. The Tempo Flat Panel In-Wall Mount System ships with two 15x10-inch Lever Lock™ plates, offering a minimum clearance for 1 RU of AV equipment. Installers can place small devices where they need them, thanks to lateral shift flexibility within the storage boxes. Lever Lock plates are compatible with Middle Atlantic Forward Small Device Mounting Clamps to quickly secure devices in place. The system also offers an industry-exclusive feature: three types of knockouts per box. This provides greater flexibility for vertical and horizontal cabling between storage boxes, giving total control over power and data design. Storage boxes are designed to fit perfectly between studs. There's no need to cut wall studs to accommodate flat panel VESA patterns because the mount supports display 65 inches and larger and are weight-rated up to 250 pounds, covering in-wall boxes. This robust weight rating also removes the need for wood blocking reinforcement (when installed per manufacturer instructions). Chief Tempo In-Wall Mount System features one inch of post-install leveling for precision-alignment in dual display installations. Display depth adjustment options from 0.5 to 2 inches facilitate ADA compliance with flat panels up to 3.5 inches deep. Mount installation can also be adjusted to accommodate more storage behind the display (may affect ADA compliance). In addition, installers can enhance service access to small devices and AV storage systems behind the display by extending mount interfaces up to 10.65 inches off the wall. The flat panel can be tilted in a variety of positions (0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10 degrees) to eliminate screen glare and reflections. When tilt is combined with depth adjustment, the bottom of large displays won't hit the wall. The included hardware and toggle anchors simplify the installation process. New display hardware bags include M8x50 screws, commonly needed for installation of popular displays. Chief also has added at-a-glance identification, with end-user touchpoint screws colored in silver and assembly screws in black for easier end-user training after commissioning. The Chief Tempo™ Flat Panel In-Wall Mount System ships mid-June. More information about it is available at www.legrandav.com/products/mounts/display-tv-mounts/tempo-flat-panel-in-wall-mount-system

CONTACT Software presents new solutions for sustainable production processes
In its presentations at Hannover Messe, CONTACT Software demonstrates how companies utilize the digital twin, Artificial Intelligence, and simulations to make their manufacturing processes more energy-efficient. Energy efficiency is a crucial lever for the manufacturing industry to address high electricity costs, stringent environmental regulations, and the growing sustainability awareness among customers. On Hannover Messe’s conference stages, CONTACT Software shows how companies can reduce energy consumption in production sustainably and combine climate protection with competitiveness. Dr. Nicole Göckel starts things off with her presentation AI-based Prognosis for the Energy Demand: Optimization Approaches in the Shopfloor on the Energy 4.0 Conference Stage (April 23, 2:40 pm, hall 12, booth D35). In her talk, she illuminates how energy consumption in manufacturing can be reduced through AI-based forecasts in CONTACT Elements for IoT. CONTACT's IoT platform uses the digital twin of a machine to capture its energy consumption. If the software detects deviations between the pre-calculated target and actual values, it notifies production managers via a dashboard. This allows them to quickly initiate appropriate countermeasures. Using the practical example of a grinding machine, the presentation illustrates how electricity costs are reduced by efficient shutdowns that take into account planned production orders and ramp-up times. Additionally, production orders can be planned based on their consumption forecasts to avoid expensive peak loads. In their presentation PredictECO – Development of a Virtual Production Twin for Sustainability Assessment on the Tech Transfer Conference Stage (April 24, 9:35 am, hall 2, booth B02), Maximilian Weidemann from CONTACT Research and Dr. Oliver Lohse from Siemens introduce a joint project in the aerospace industry. At its core is a green digital twin that stores environmental information and serves as a virtual representation of production. The project aims to establish sustainability as a key factor in product development in order to use resources more efficiently and meet national and EU-wide climate protection goals. Using manufacturing simulations and intelligent analyses, the sustainability of production processes can already be assessed in the design phase. The results of PredictECO are being validated in the energy-intensive manufacturing of fiber composite. The prototype solution enables the evaluation of sustainability KPIs, which can be used to optimize manufacturing and make sustainable decisions. The presentations will be streamed live. CONTACT presents the entire solution portfolio for PLM, IoT, and MES of its open low-code platform CONTACT Elements at its main booth H24 in hall 17. Here, visitors can also discover use cases for the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) together with Mitsubishi Electric, as well as with msg at the IDTA stand (hall 9, booth F27). CONTACT will also be present at the OWL joint booth D27 in hall 07 and the Fujitsu booth H62 in hall 14.

Matrox Video Expands SMPTE ST 2110 Network Interface Card Lineup
Matrox® Video today introduced low-density versions of the Matrox DSX LE5 D25 LP and DSX LE6 D100 network interface controller (NIC) cards, new additions to the company's lineup of SMPTE ST 2110 cards that enable flexible, cost-effective design of products supporting the broadcast and Pro AV industries' shift to IP workflows. Offering multi-channel video inputs and outputs (I/O) over 10/25/100GbE networks, along with the media processing-rich Matrox DSX SDK, these new NIC cards allow equipment manufacturers to design any type of IP-based application from low-density HD/3G/4K and 8K workflows at the right price point within one SDK. "The Matrox Video commitment to the SMPTE ST 2110 standard is unquestionable, and by introducing both entry-level and ultra-high-spec ST 2110 NICs right now, we address the growth of the ST 2110 market — at many levels for many applications and productions — across broadcast and Pro AV," said Francesco Scartozzi, vice president of sales and business development, Broadcast and Media Group, at Matrox Video. "Our new ST 2110 NICs use the same robust DSX SDK as our popular DSX LE5 and XMIO5 D25/Q25 NICs, which have been used for years in the 24/7 ST 2110 infrastructures of the most prestigious broadcasters worldwide. The DSX SDK enables complete support of ST 2110 solutions with minimal engineering effort and resources. Because all the complexity of ST 2110 is managed by the SDK, developers handle the video, audio, and ancillary data buffers just as they would with an SDI application." Architected as video-aware, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) ST 2110 NIC cards, the new Matrox Video cards deliver the interoperability and 24/7 reliability required of broadcast and Pro AV equipment while offering the flexibility and scalability expected of IP infrastructures. Like existing ST 2110 cards in the Matrox Video product portfolio, the new cards feature hardware-based PTP to provide nanosecond-range ST 2059-2 accuracy, and they offload all ST 2110 packet processing from the CPU. An ultra-low-latency (ULL) feature minimizes in-to-out latency for multichannel HD, 4K, and 8K applications. The new entry-level DSX LE5 D25 LP (low-profile) cards allow compact 1U, 2U, and 3U COTS systems to support lower-density workflows of 1080i/1080p/UHD over a 10/25 GbE interface. One card supports four HD/3G or one 4K/UHD reconfigurable I/O, and the other supports four HD/3G or one 4K/UHD I/O simultaneously. Designed for high-performance media environments including broadcast and virtual production, the DSX LE6 D100 PCIex8 Gen4 card with dual 100 GbE interfaces supports multiple-channel 4K and 8K ST 2110 I/O and easily handles eight I/O of 4K/UHD p60/50 with ST 2022-7 seamless protection switching. The Matrox DSX SDK (Win/Linux) provides the reliability and stability required for demanding broadcast and Pro AV operations. A unified architecture that is common across all Matrox ST 2110 NIC, SDI I/O, and H.264 codec cards, the DSX SDK supports key functions — including file reading/writing, memory management, and handling of a range of file formats, codecs, and effects — to facilitate agile development. A prototyping tool is also available to facilitate rapid simulation and testing of use cases without the need to write any code. The new Matrox DSX LE5 D25 LP cards will be available in Q3 and the DSX LE6 D100 cards in Q4 2024. More information about Matrox Video and its products is available at video.matrox.com

Fuse Technical Group Chooses Matrox Video to Drive 4K Video Output at Sphere
Matrox® Video today announced that multimedia system designer and integrator Fuse Technical Group chose Matrox Video's technology to drive SMPTE ST 2110 routing, orchestration, conversion, and control inside Sphere in Las Vegas, where U2 is performing the venue's first-ever shows. Show and event producers rely on the technology to feed and manage SMPTE ST 2110 signals for what is currently the biggest show on the planet. Sphere's interior boasts a 160,000-square-foot, 16K wraparound LED canvas with 256 million rendered pixels — the largest and highest resolution LED screen in the world. For U2's "U2:UV Achtung Baby Live" residency at Sphere, the band's content development team called on Fuse to develop a video playback system capable of handling 16K resolution and augmenting and moving live input across 16K — all over IP, running on a complete SMPTE ST 2110 backbone. "It took five years to build the Sphere, but we had only five months from the initial contact to deliver a 100% reliable solution in time for the first show — using a standard and workflow we weren't accustomed to. It was definitely no small feat to do something like that in such a compressed timeline," said Ryan Middlemiss, Fuse Technical Group's director of media servers. Fuse was able to realize the vision it had for the workflow — which in turn made it possible to bring the spectacle to life — thanks to the capability and performance of Matrox Video's IP video products, coupled with its support and SMPTE ST 2110 expertise. Critical products in the workflow are: Matrox ConvertIP for SMTPE ST 2110 Conversion — Fuse deployed 23 Matrox ConvertIP DSS dual-channel SFP SDI-to-IP devices to convert high-resolution SDI from the media servers into SMPTE ST 2110 and deliver content to the IP video backbone for display on the LEDs. Fuse selected ConvertIP for its 12G SDI and 4K (DCI) support, its low latency, and its 25G speeds. Fuse subsequently requested 6G support, and Matrox Video added the capability to ConvertIP. Matrox ConductIP for Routing and Orchestration — Fuse uses Matrox ConductIP to route and orchestrate SMPTE ST 2110 sources on its internal network, a critical part of the workflow. Matrox Extio™ 3 for Remote Operation and Control — The production system uses 30 computers, with one programmer and two technicians in the control room handling all the video for the show. Fuse deployed Matrox Extio 3 IP KVM extenders so the operators can access multiple computers from one remote workstation with one keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Users can move between Extio 3-equipped computers at once just by dragging the mouse. Trust, Training, and Relationship For Fuse, the SMPTE ST 2110 element of the workflow was unfamiliar, but Matrox Video's ST 2110 training and expertise helped Middlemiss and his team get up to speed quickly. The responsiveness and engineering support from Matrox Video proved crucial to the project's success, especially when last-minute changes arose. "The difference when I go shopping is that I really look into the people that I'm going to purchase from — who they are and how we get along," Middlemiss said. "Ultimately, I felt comfortable investing in Matrox Video because I trusted the people behind it." "The jaw-dropping spectacle at Sphere sets a new gold standard for video in live entertainment, which demands innovative technological solutions. This scenario embodies Matrox Video's vision and mission statement: to build innovative products and deliver superior support, enabling our customers to harness the power of video to communicate, entertain, and make critical decisions," said Francesco Scartozzi, vice president, sales and business development at Matrox Video. "We're honored to have worked with Fuse on this unparalleled project and that our technology and our people played a role in its success." Additional Matrox Video core technology powers other systems in the Sphere SMPTE ST 2110 workflow.

Da-Lite’s Tensioned Advantage With SightLine is Now Available in the Modus VR Product Library
Da-Lite is pleased to announce its Tensioned Advantage® electric screen with SightLine™ cable drop is available in the latest release of the Modus VR visual experience platform. As the first manufacturer to feature a projection screen system on the platform, Da-Lite and Modus VR will host a live demo of the visualization tool during a webinar on Wednesday, Feb. 14. “Two years ago, the SightLine cable drop feature redefined the projection screen category with its ability to add visual appeal and solve the most time-consuming obstacles in projection screen installations,” said Wendy Cox, Director, Product Management Da-Lite. “Now you can see this eye-catching feature and speed up the buying decision process in a compelling way.” Available as an option with the company’s Tensioned Advantage and Advantage electric screens, SightLine gives the impression of a floating screen. The single roller design suspension system features three or four thin cables that can accommodate drop distances up to 70” (standard) and 10’ (optional) between the ceiling and the top of the screen. This innovation eliminates the need for the traditional black border above the projection screen and simplifies AV setups by creating space above a screen to place cameras or speakers, while its low-profile design preserves a room’s architectural integrity.
