Bullet Hell Meets Grotesque Childhood Nightmares in NeverAwake, Sept. 28 on PC
NeverAwake, the nightmarish twin-stick shoot’em up set in a world of a young girl’s fears and horrors, from developer Neotro Inc and publisher Phoenixx, invites PC gamers to the nightmare realm via Steam on Wednesday, Sept. 28, as revealed during Future Games Show at Gamescom. Get a more in-depth look at the grotesque vegetable monsters and other terrors in the extended cut of the PC release date trailer here. The Vermillion Gate Grand Prize winner at Japan’s prestigious indie game festival, BitSummit 2022, will bring its bizarre nightmares to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4|5 in Q1 2023. Discover the grotesque nightmares of a little girl, trapped in her slumber, paralyzed by fear, seemingly never to awake. In the deepest parts of her subconsciousness, she sees Rem, a fierce fighter armed with a demonic, dragon-shaped gun, who fights to conquer the forces trapping her. Dodge, aim and shoot in 360-degree levels, gather enough power to unleash a wide blast around Rem when surrounded by foes as she drifts through beautiful hand-drawn landscapes of fears and monstrosities of the girl’s nightmares. Annihilate the abominations haunting her waking hours like dentists, angry dogs, and going to school. Other foes represent terrors more familiar to Japanese youth, like the first boss, a radish monster representing the acquired taste of wasabi. Each of the 80 levels loops until Rem collects all the souls, and each loop gets more challenging if Rem can’t defeat her adversaries in time. Fight more than a dozen bosses, discover what lies at the core of the girl’s subconscious and what might lead to her freedom from this sleep paralysis. "I aimed to create a shooting game accessible to all, and a neverending nightmarish loop of the same stage repeated over and over again seemed like an ideal way for players to progress at their own pace," said Hiroshi Sawatari, developer of the game. "By designing the enemies from elements we all have feared or loathed in our lives, we hoped to create a setting that is both horrifying and sympathetic." NeverAwake releases on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, on Steam for PC for $19.99 with a 15% launch discount, and support for English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language text. Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 versions will release in Q1 2023. Players wanting to get their hands on NeverAwake early can check out the demo now available on Steam or on the show floors of Gamescom, TOKYO GAME SHOW 2022, Busan Indie Connect, and Crunchyroll Expo Australia, where it’s been selected to appear. For more information, visit the official NeverAwake website, and follow Neotro Inc. on Twitter.

Dive behind the data as F1 Manager 2022 reveals starting driver and key staff ratings
Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV, ‘Frontier’) today revealed the starting driver and key staff ratings for F1® Manager 2022, the major new officially licenced F1® management simulation game, launching on August 30 (August 25 for players who pre-order*) on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation® 5, Xbox One, PlayStation® 4, Steam and the Epic Games Store. CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE OFFICIAL F1 MANAGER 2022 RATINGS LIVESTREAM TOMORROW (20 JULY) FROM 1600 BST / 1700 CEST / 0800 PDT / 1000 CDT Authenticity is key in F1® Manager 2022, and the driver ratings are no exception. Working closely with Formula One®, each individual driver’s overall rating is influenced by a combination of nine performance ratings, all determined by real racing data. Each performance rating is calculated using multiple information points, creating a data driven rating that encompasses previous performances, up to and including the 2022 season so far. As players, and their drivers, progress through the season these ratings will adapt to reflect their development as they build experience throughout their career. Starting performance ratings are split into three sections, each containing three individual attribute ratings; ‘Pace’ ratings influence the driver’s raw speed, covering Cornering, Braking and Reactions, ‘Consistency’ stats such as Accuracy, Control and Smoothness largely reduce the likelihood of driver errors. Finally, ‘Racecraft’ ratings allow drivers to adapt to changing conditions, these ratings include Adaptability, Overtaking and Defending. In addition, each driver has their own Aggression value which determines how likely they are to attempt an overtaking manoeuvre, even at the risk of a racing incident. As well as Growth Potential, which highlights how likely their skills are to develop in future. Players can explore each of these performance ratings in detail on the F1® Manager 2022 official website, and hear more from the team in a live stream broadcast on Twitch at 16:00 BST tomorrow (20th July). However, victory isn’t just down to the drivers. Central to a team’s success, are the key staff members working both trackside and back at headquarters in order to unleash the potential of the car. Similarly to drivers, each key staff member has their own starting performance ratings, which are unique to each role, and these ratings will change as their experience level increases. As the name suggests, these ratings are just a starting point. Team Principals can take direct control of how their drivers and staff develop, allocating development points to each performance rating as they gain experience. Every driver and staff member will develop and improve their skills at varying speeds. Just like the real world of F1®, there will be breakthrough stars, veterans reaching the twilight of their careers, and all kinds of dynamic nuances resulting in those ratings changing throughout the seasons. An additional influence for Team Principals to consider is the role of the headquarters. A well-maintained, state-of-the-art set of facilities allows a team to develop improved components, build experience faster and even boosts their individual morale. Prospective Team Principals will have all the data at their fingertips as they prepare to build their own legacy in Formula 1®, when F1® Manager 2022 launches on August 30 on PC, PlayStation® 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation® 4 and Xbox One for a suggested retail price of £44.99/$54.99/€54.99. Players looking to get ahead of the grid are able to pre-order the game digitally and experience F1® Manager 2022 a full five days early from August 25*. The game is also available in physical format for PlayStation® 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation® 4 and Xbox One for a suggested retail price of £44.99/$54.99/€54.99. *Early access and discount is exclusively available to those pre-ordering digitally. FIFA diversifies its gaming rights and launches new non-sim football games alongside EA SPORTS franchise
For the first time, FIFA will launch new football video games developed with third-party studios and publishers, providing more choice for football and gaming fans in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™. A number of new non-simulation games are already under production and will launch during the third quarter of this year. The first is a tailored gaming experience featuring the biggest event on earth, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, which will bring new, interactive experiences to fans across the globe. Following this initial unveiling, FIFA will launch further games and virtual experiences around this year’s FIFA World Cup. Additional projects are also under discussion with publishers ahead of next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup™. Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, said: "I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans. The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25 and FIFA 26, and so on - the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain THE BEST." “The interactive gaming and esports sector is on a path of unrivalled growth and diversification. FIFA’s strategy is to ensure we can make the most of all future options and ensure a wide range of products and opportunities for gamers, fans, member associations and partners.” Alongside the new games, FIFA has granted a new short-term extension to existing publisher EA SPORTS to launch a new FIFA 23 title later this year, which will feature the men’s and women’s FIFA World Cup competitions in one edition for the first time. The recently confirmed extension with EA SPORTS is a new arrangement that grants rights for the simulation football category only, freeing up broader gaming rights for FIFA and different gaming publishers to launch new games and more deeply immersive experiences for fans and football stakeholders. This new, non-exclusive licensing model follows on from an extended period of discussions between the parties relating to FIFA’s future gaming vision. As announced in October 2021, FIFA intends to work with a range of partners rather than lock up all gaming and esports rights exclusively with one publisher for the long term. As well as launching a portfolio of new games during 2022 and 2023, FIFA is currently engaging with leading game publishers, media companies and investors in regard to the development of a major new FIFA simulation football game title for 2024. FIFA’s new gaming model has been developed in parallel with FIFA+, the recently launched direct-to-consumer media platform.

While the more taxing crafting requirements (lowering the entry barrier for shelter construction, etc) have been modified to accommodate the game’s beta period, with Kakao Games and developer Reality MagiQ wanting participation to maximize the interaction between players. There will also be more of a focus on acquiring special skills through relentless combat and base occupation. After feedback from the game’s followers — collated from previous gameplay tests — the expectation is that players will find more hit satisfaction, an upgraded UI, and greater development of motion-capture animations.
