Partners across San Antonio, including KLRN Public Television and EPIcenter, are joining forces on February 4 to provide a virtual screening of the PBS and Amazon Prime Series “POWER TRIP: THE STORY OF ENERGY.” The screening will feature the FOOD episode, followed by a discussion with author and University of Texas professor Dr. Michael E. Webber; Co-director of Michigan State University’s Food Literacy and Engagement Poll and host of “Serving Up Science” on PBS Digital Studios, Sheril Kirshenbaum; Chief Learning Officer of the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology and Program Chair for SA Smart, Dr. Cliff Zintgraff; and the President and CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank, Eric Cooper. The panel will be moderated by Chief of the EPIcenter Energy Incubator and Accelerator Andi Littlejohn. “‘POWER TRIP’ was filmed around the world and uncovers the hidden energy that is embedded in our modern way of life, taking viewers on a journey through the past, present and future of energy,” Webber said. “‘Food’ shows us the energy it takes to bring us our food. It offers great perspective as the global community grabbles with rising food insecurity during the global pandemic.” The screening is open to the public at large while simultaneously supporting the San Antonio Mayor’s K-12 Smart City Challenge, for which the 2021 topic is food insecurity. The screening and panel discussion are made available with support from CPS Energy and Itron, Inc. as part of the Smart Energy Education initiative. Additional partners include Commuities in Schools of San Antonio, Disco Learning Media, and Alpheus Media. In the SA Smart Challenge, students in grades 7-12 are presented with a San Antonio-specific smart city problem. The SA Smart 2021 Challenge asks students to address how San Antonio can drastically reduce food insecurity among its residents. Participating students in turn must propose a strategy, product, or service as a solution.

EBS Well-Made Documentary ‘Singers – Laugh and Cry with the Times’ Press Conference
On December 22, EBS (CEO Kim Myung-Joong) announced a specially designed documentary ‘Singers – Laugh and Cry with the Times’ (10 episodes) during the press conference held at Sookmyung Women's University. ‘Singers – Laugh and Cry with the Times’ (hereinafter ‘Singers’) is a music & interview documentary that intensively sheds new light on the great singers who soothed the anxiety and sorrows of the people and sometimes encouraged their hope and courage throughout the turbulent modern history. In particular, ‘Singers’ is a biography with a bold line that finds the value of musical DNA and rediscovers the singers who have comforted people in the ages before the BTS craze that swept the world today. ▲ ‘Singers’ Season 1, which recorded Korean modern and contemporary history with singers' voice and songs, was revealed on 22. ‘Singers’ is composed of only singers’ songs and real interviews without narration. EBS produced a teleprompter for video for the first time in Korea and performed a special shooting where the performer looks directly at the camera. And it made viewers feel like they are vividly meeting stars through TV. In addition, high-quality audio, such as a hyper-cardioid condenser mic, was used to show the music as if we are at the live concert of the singers. ‘Singers’ first episode, aired at 9:35 pm on Sunday, December 22, was opened by a folk singer Song Chang-Sik. After a long absence, Song Chang-Sik, who slugged the 70s as a symbol of youth culture, such as <Whale Hunting> and <Why Do You Call Me?>, talked about a story which has never been done in front of the camera. ▲ Singer Hye-Eun-Yi ▲ Singer Lee Eun-Ha ▲ Singer Jeon Young-Rok ▲ Han Sang-Ho, CP at EBS and General Director of ‘Singers’ ■ “I wanted to play my music with our words and language, just like writing an old poem pleasantly.” We can meet Song Chang-Sik, who pursued Korean colors in a series of hit songs, including <Ga Na Da Ra>, <A Day of Sparrow>, <Azure Days>, <We are>. The second episode, which will be broadcasted on December 29, will be handed by Yang Hee-Eun, who presented a deep resonant sound to the times. Yang Hee-Eun found an echo in all ages’ hearts through the folk songs like <Morning Dew> and <Evergreen Tree> as well as popular songs with unique emotions such as <About the Loneliness Called Love> and <Han Gye Ryeong>. This time, she will present another impression with serious interview. Besides the broadcaster Yang Hee-Eun who is loved by various entertainment programs and radio, the true character of the singer Yang Hee-Eun and the reason why she is a godmother of folk song will be revealed through the ‘Singers’. Korea’s first singer for video, Hye Eun-Yi, had taken the love of the whole nation by causing ‘Hye Eun-Yi Syndrome’ with a series of hit songs such as <You Wouldn’t Know>, <I Really Really Like You>, and <Third Han River Bridge>. Her popularity as a fashion icon, such as a short cut hair craze called ‘wind hair’, was greater than any other female singers. Still singing with a little girl’s heart, Hye Eun-Yi can be confirmed through the third episode of ‘Singers’. ▲ EBS first developed and introduced a teleprompter designed to keep viewers and interviewers at the same eye level. ■ “The movie is my father, and the song is my mother. My musical and sensory talent came from 98% of my family's genes. I do not want to deny my roots.” Jeon Young-Rok, who is known as an all-round entertainer and the originator of a huge fan base of teenage girls called ‘Oppa Budae’, is the one who always meets fans at the front line. Recently, he has challenged fishing life through the evening program of public TV and is expecting his second heyday. He said that ‘Singers’, which looks back on the song life, is a welcome program like rain for a drought. Meanwhile, Jeon Young-Rok's music diary, such as holding a concert at Cheongju CJB Media Center on December 29, 2019, is still in progress. ■ “I like to challenge myself. My heart is as excited as waiting for a loved one. ” The confession of disco queen and singer Lee Eun-Ha, who has challenged various genres such as ballad, disco, rock and jazz, is beautiful. Overcoming the illness and restoring the current health, she boasts colorful colors like a chameleon. In addition, you will be able to meet 10 great singers, including Lee Eun-Ha, Han Dae-Soo, Kim Soo-Chul, Song Dae-Gwan, and Lee Jang-Hee until February next year. ▲ PD Jeon Young-Geon also attended the joint interview and told the story behind the production. ▲ EBS exhibited photographs of moments during filming and paid tribute to the singers who shed light on an era.

EBS Documentary [Korea Travelogue : Life Is a Road Movie] Watching Guide
■ Introduction Nature seems to have soothing powers that comforts us. We often find ourselves longing for the green mountains and the blue oceans in the midst of the hectic lives and constant stress. EBS Korea Travelogue is a TV program that takes you to the hidden beauties of Korea. The history, traditions, architecture, and culture of Korea is delivered through vivid images. For those of you who can’t enjoy a day off, Korea Travelogue introduces people who are living their dreams in nature. Shall we look into the lives of those who ride bikes across the fields, live by and with the ocean, and farm for the fruits of hard work? ■ Where Are You Going Today? Sang-Sun Kim received a motorcycle from a friend fifteen years ago. He takes his motorcycle into the country every weekend. Riding the motorcycle allows him to feel and look at things he has missed driving a car. Today, San-Sun Kim rides to Yangyang, Gangwon-do to visit his old friend. Watching him ride pass the mountains and lakes almost feels like we are on the motorcycle with him. The friend he is meeting is Sang-Sun Nam. The two friends with the same names met in Sokcho, Gangwon-do and has been friends for a long time. They were separated when Sang-Sun Kim had to move to Seoul for work, but they still think of each other dearly. With his motorcycle, Sang-Sun Kim is able to meet new people in new places and visit old friends who live far away. Now he is off to a new destination for his own little road movie. ■ Like a Flowing River Let’s meet our new guest in Yangpyeong, GyeongGi-do. Chang-Jin Kim runs an outdoor learning camp for children. Chang-Jin makes recorders of all shapes out of clay. Watching a frog made out of clay turn into a recorder is just marvelous. He especially likes to make frog, salamander, and toad shaped recorders to show his apologies to the animals harmed by humans’ greed. Making clay recorders got Chang-Jin interested in sounds, which led him to make his own speakers, and to plant trees around the house to attract birds for their chirping. Chang-Jin has not always lived in Yangpyeong. It has been fifteen years since he left the swamped life of the city and settled here surrounded by beautiful sounds. Sounds of nature is now a crucial part of Chang- Jin’s life. The sound of frogs coming out of hibernation in April and the sound of geese coming back home in November gives Chang-Jin his strength. It looks like Chang-Jin has found himself at home in the peaceful nature. ■ Let's go Visit Now Where is the one place you think of when you feel homesick? Let us introduce you to a place full of nostalgia: Shinan, JeollaNam-do. Korea’s west coast has islands that are estranged then rejoined due to the high tidal range. Shinan, JeollaNam-do has an 18km pathway, which used to be stepping-stones put in place to ward off evil spirits. This pathway connects six islands from Byungpoong-do, and it is open all day except during the high tides. The women of Byungpoong-do just finished their potato harvest and are gathered around for lunch. They start “Sandai”, a folk song singing done in groups, which originated from the cities of southwest coast: a performance that can rarely be seen elsewhere. Watching the entire town working and living like one big family brings about great nostalgia. Shinan used to be the trading center for natural sea salt. Although decreased in number, there are still operating sea salt farms on the island. Seawater crystallizing into natural salt is like watching a life grow and ripen. Myung-Seok Lee, an owner of one of the salt farms, promises to think of the farm as a gold mine and keep it safe. Myung-Seok Kim’s passion reminds us that it is things that change, not people. ■ That's How You Become a Farmer Yang-Hee moved back home to the countryside three years ago and is now starting to get used to farming different crops. Her next goal after corn is Shiitake mushroom. Most of her friends worry about her and the demanding work of a farmer, but Yang-Hee is confident. Yang-Hee and her brother Yoon-Seok say that there is a lot more to farming than just the financial outcomes. Planting the seeds, caring for it night and day comes the joy of harvesting the fruits of hard labor. This keeps them working on the field every day. Jin-Chul Shin and Hee-Jeong Jung also started farming for a living ten years ago. The couple grows mulberries and never once used chemical pesticides. The couple started with a solid philosophy and a promise that they will not farm to earn a fortune and has been keeping the promise ever since. Once harvesting of mulberries is done in the summer, the rest of the year is vacation. The couple enjoys their free time making jam for their friends. The reason for their move to the countryside was Hee-Jeong’s health. Hee-Jeong recovered from her illness, but they have realized that healthy body and mind comes from healthy environment and work. The couple’s goal now is to “work less and live healthy”. ■ Conclusion Just like how everyone is born with different faces, everyone has different definitions of happiness. Today we looked at the lives of those who have found their happiness in nature. The birds chirping, ocean sparkling with sunlight and fruits ripening overtime will stay with them through the good and bad of life. How about taking some time off the busy city life and enjoying the nature to make your own ‘road movie’ of memories? * Video available on Youtube. English narration and subtitles provided. Part 1. Where are you going today? Part 2. Like a Flowing River Part 3. Adventures of the Three Musketeers Part 4. Let's go Visit Now Part 5. That's How You Become a Farmer

EBS Documentary 'Themes Around the World-Journey through Canada, a Winter Wonderland' Preview
■ Introduction The world is big with lots of places to visit. However, we have limited amount of time on our hands. Is it really impossible to visit all the places around the world? There is a TV program that solves this problem: EBS Themes Around the World. Themes Around the World is not just an ordinary travel guide program, but is created to provide a firsthand experience of traveling as if one was backpacking around the world. There are many travel guide TV programs and information can be easily obtained through books and internet. However, what makes Themes Around the World different and special, nonetheless, are it’s “themes” and “curators”. The first reason why Themes Around the World is special can be found in its title. The program does not simply introduce famous tourist sites. Every episode has a theme and visits the places related to the theme. By doing so, we can visit places that are not yet known to many people and visit the places we already know of with a completely different perspective. Following the scenery seen in movies in Japan or experiencing Shakespeare in London can only be found on Themes Around the World. So how are the themes decided? Here is the second reason why Themes Around the World is special: each destination is led by a different host called the curator. From professors, writers, musicians to sportsmen, curators from various fields select and introduce a destination according to the chosen theme. With their expert knowledge in the different fields, curators provide unique and diverse aspects of the destinations that are unfamiliar to us. They not only lead the tour themselves, but are also the narrators of the program. The expertise of the curators allows the viewers to obtain in depth understanding of the destinations. Let’s take a look at a destination Themes Around the World introduces. The place we are going to look at is Canada. The curator who is going to guide us through Canada is the junior freestyle ski team coach Chang Bum Koo. Shall we start the journey to the winter wonderland? ■ Banff, Encountering the Winter Rockies Banff National Park, Canada’s first national park, is the gateway to the Canadian Rockies. Chang Bum Koo shares a vivid and lively experience of the Canadian Rockies as he skies down the Banff Lake Louis ski slope. He also explains in detail about “tree run” where skiers ski through trees. Curators offering insights into details that otherwise will not be noticed is something only Themes Around the World can offer. ■ The Hidden Treasures of the Rockies, Canmore and Jasper Located between Calgary and Banff National Park, Kananaskis is a vacation city in southwestern Canada. It hosted the alpine skiing during the 1988 Winter Olympics held in Calgary. A helicopter tour of the beautiful Rockies is also available in Kananaskis. Derived from the word that means “stone wall” in Cree language, mount Yamnuska is famous for its scenery often seen in movies such as Legends of The Fall and Brokeback Mountain. To the south of Banff National Park is Canmore National Park. Various activities like dog sledding, horseback riding, and hiking to fully enjoy the Canadian Rockies are available at Canmore National Park. To the north of Banff National Park is Jasper National Park; one of the largest national parks in Canada. Its name derived from the word “jade”, waterfalls and lakes of beautiful colors can be seen at the national park. One of the many beautiful sites of Jasper National Park is Maligne Canyon. It is known for its beautiful scenery of Maligne Lake in the summer and ice walking over the frozen canyon in the winter. Glacier hiking up the Angel Falls also provides a spectacular view in the winter. Last but not least, not too far from the Angel Falls is Queen of Maligne, a waterfall too beautiful to miss. ■ Capturing Aurora, Yellowknife Isn’t aurora somewhere on everyone’s bucket list? You can see and experience aurora without the long hours on the plane through “Part 4 Capturing Aurora, Yellowknife”. The North Pole isn’t the only place where aurora can be seen. It can also be seen in Canada. Yellowknife is known as the “capital of aurora”. The temperature reaches the low of minus 30°C to minus 40°C in the winter and the high of 30°C in the summer. Yellowknife is located on latitude 65~70°, allowing aurora to be seen. Free from air and light pollution, Yellowknife is an ideal place to capture aurora. One can only wait to see the aurora. The program introduces various activities for the long waiting hours. People go fishing on snowmobiles surrounded by fields of snow. Looking at the scenery and waiting for the fish not only provides tranquility but also makes the long wait for aurora precious. Waiting for something in the cold that freezes everything instantly can be difficult and tiring. However, the view of aurora is definitely worth the wait. Aurora is a phenomenon that occurs due to the clash of solar wind particles and molecules of earth’s atmosphere and some people call it the “god’s soul”. You will understand why when you experience the aurora on Themes Around the World. ■ Conclusion We had a look around Themes Around the World under the theme of “Snowfields of Canada”. The tour was made more interesting and informative with a ski coach as a curator. Themes Around the World will visit many more places with various different themes. How about traveling to one of your dream places with Themes Around the World this evening? Part 1. Banff, the Winter of the Rockies Part 2. Canmore and Jasper, Deep in the Rockies Part 3. Lake Louise, a Romantic Winter Lake Part 4. Seeing the Aurora, Yellowknife

Gourmet trip in Asia - watching on EBS Documentary
Rice Noddles, Nasigoreng, Qingdao beer… They might be the first foods that come to your mind typical Asian foods. New and unusual food often presents us with a feast of unique fancy flavors you haven’t experienced before. Why don’t you join in an Asian gourmet trip with Baek Jong-won, the hand of Midas in the Korean foodservice industry, and melt into alleys of Hanoi, Jakarta and Qingdao!? [Part 1 – Gourmet trip in Hanoi] The first destination of Baek Jong-won’s gourmet trip is Vietnam. Vietnam has many famous foods such as Rice Noodle - Pho -, coffee, Buncha, and Banmi, among which, now, we will find out about Banmi. Banmi is a Vietnamese sandwich made of baguette with fillings. It is so popular that <Lonely Planet> has picked Banmi as one of the ‘World’s Street Food Best 10’. You can easily get Banmi in street vendors and small stores. Vietnamese love Banmi for its low cost as well as for its good taste. How has Banmi, the Vietnamese food, been made of baguette? The history of Banmi dates back to the period of French colonial. From 1883 to 1945, Vietnam was under the rule of France, which made French confectionery, including baguettes, be naturally introduced to Vietnam. However, there is a difference in Vietnamese baguette from French one., which is that the Vietnameset baguette is made with rice flour. So, unlike hard and rough French baguettes, the Vietnamese ones’ are crispy outside and chewy inside. It is Banmi that the Vietnamese baguette is stuffed with Vietnamese traditional fillings. "Is this all made of pork?" - "This is a ham made of pork, beef, and rabbit" "It’s so unique to put pâté in a baguette. This is a modified French dish, which seems to be evolved in a good way" Now let’s take a look at the fillings of Banmi. Banmi is usually filled with ham made of various meats such as pork, beef, rabbit, etc. coriander, vegetable, and pâté. Pâté is also a French food that a mixture of ground meat and vegetables is baked. Not only bread, the outside of Banmi, but also fillings, the inside of it, were influenced by French cuisine. In <The World Travelogue, Atlas>, Baek said that the taste of Banmi is similar to that of Korean food ‘Gimbap’. He stressed that the outer part of Banmi is really delicious though the inner fillings are also great. If you want to enjoy the best taste with your poor pocket, Banmi, the Vietnamese dish, ismay be the best choice for you. [Part 2 – Gourmet trip in Jakarta] Baek went on a second trip to Jakarta, Indonesia to find out why Indonesian food is so much loved by people around the world. Indonesia is a country with an old history of herb and spices so far as to pass them on to the Middle East and Europe in old times. The World Travelogue, Atlas Gourmet Trip in Asia PART 2 Exploration into Food of Jakarta If you go to Indonesia, you should visit the restaurant named ‘Padang Restaurant’, which is located in Padang. That i's because you can taste 'Rendang,' which took first place in ‘the 50 Most Delicious Foods in the World’, announced by CNN. Padang Restaurant serves all the food in the restaurant including 'Rendang'. However, you don't have to eat all of the food, but just pick up the dishes that suits your taste and pay the price of only the dishes you touched. This is a very unique way as a restaurant. "This is my favorite menu at this Padang Restaurant, which is called ‘Rendang’" 'Rendang' is a stewed food with beef in coconut milk. Baek said that ‘Rendang’ is a little sweeter and tenderer than Korean Braised Short Ribs - Galbi-jjim - after having tasted it. The difference in texture is because Korean Galbi-jjim is made boiled with water, while 'Rengdang' is with coconut milk. He, eating 'Rendang', also wondered if Korean Galbi-jjim could captivate the taste buds of people around the world if using milk instead of water making it tenderer. It is said that ‘To come to know a new taste is to meet a new world.’ Why don't you meet another world through exploring food cultures in Jakarta, Indonesia, the region of distinctive flavors? [Part 3 – Gourmet trip in Qingdao] As the saying ‘Even the Chinese can’t try all Chinese foods before they die’ represents, Chinese delicacies are no less rich than its ancient history. The last destination is ‘Qingdao’, representative region for Shandong cuisine which best suit Korean palate. Qingdao, which used to be a small fishing village, has rapidly developed into the fourth largest port city in China. However, we can still find some regions beyond the reach of development. The “Licun Market” is one example. Qingdao is really famous for short-neck clams as much as there is even the saying ‘Eat short-neck clams and drink Qingtao beer’. People here may regard eating them as the greatest happiness. You can enjoy fabulous plates of fried clams at street stalls in Licun Market. Street cooks of the stalls make charcoal grilled dishes on the spot by stir-frying ingredients customers bought on the Licun Market. Although the price is really cheap 5 yuan, which is not more than 1,000 won, a plate, the store is not with a high-end kitchen but serves the dishes properly cooked with Chinese traditional recipe. The charcoal grilled pork and fried pork kidney taste light and great without much seasoning added except salt and pepper. Baek said if you Ttriedy Qingdao’s famous Stir-Fried Spicy Clams - Lachao Gala – dipped in vinegar, you would get nothing to envy in the world. [Conclusion] Simple dishes on the street could be more tasty and attractive than a fancy meal. Such foods, without outstanding technique, provide warm consolation to someone who is tired of and distressed with everyday life. It may be for humanity inside them that unfamiliar exotic Asian street foods come to us in a familiar way. Although Asian gourmet trip has finished with Qingdao, simple but strong flavors and sincerity of the three Asian countries’ foods will always be supportive around us.

EBS mathematics documentaries enjoyable to watch again
What does come to your mind first when you think of 'Mathematics'? Perhaps you might remember the time when studying the tough subject in your school life. It is the mathematics that one of the subjects which many people are feeling difficult is. However, Pythagoras asserted, "all is number". Math is not just calculation, but part of our life. In addition, it could be an important key to understand essence of nature and the universe. The "EBS DocuPrime", a documentary program, has handled such mathematics several times. Of numerous documentaries, there are some particularly interesting and attractive. Those are the EBS classical mathematics documentaries dealing with the origin, history, and development of mathematics, which we can enjoyably watch again any time. They are the "Numbers", the "Math and the rise of civilization", and the "Pythagoras Theorem". ■ <Numbers> (Nov. 2015) What reminds us first when we talk about the word of ‘Number’? The most familiar numbers to us might be the Arabic numerals. In mathematics, however, various characters are used as numbers. The "Numbers", a pentaptych documentary, is covering the five numbers that led the human civilization and mathematical history: π, ∞, x, 0, and i. Each episode handles one number or one letter. Part 1 discusses π, Part 2 is about ∞, Part 3 handles x, Part 4 covers 0, and finally, Part 5 deals with i. The documentary lets us know how these numbers were created through anecdotes of famous mathematicians, such as Archimedes, Galileo, Kantor, Galois, Gauss and so on. Chair-professor Roger Penrose / Department of Mathematics, Oxford University "The imaginary number is called as the number of imagination, but originally as a magic number. They created something that had not existed." The documentary was filmed in a total of 15 countries, including China, Greece, Germany, and France. The participation of renowned mathematical scholars, such as Roger Penrose and Cédric Villani who won the Fields Medal in 2010, as well as mathematicians from each country has enhanced the expertise of the documentary. This led to the award for the excellence prize at the 2016 Korea Communications Commission Broadcasting Awards and the best picture in TV documentary sector at the 43rd Korea Broadcasting Prizes. Professor Cédric Villani / Director of research in Poincaré Institute "Mathematics was born here in Greece, at the same time as philosophy. It was a way to understand the world." "Numbers" is not a documentary just showing lectures in a classroom. It sometimes reenacts the lives of ancient mathematicians to help the viewers' understanding. Moreover, a famous mathematician visits the historical sites in person to describe the history of mathematics in some cases. It could be said that they directly experience and show how mathematics have affected our lives. This documentary will be very helpful to high school students, who are consistently using ‘π, ∞, x, 0, and i' in class. They will be able to more excitingly understand math, further feeling the intrinsic beauty of mathematics. In addition, this documentary is beneficial to adults, in that it looks back on the history of human intelligence. ■ <Math and the rise of civilization> (Dec. 2011) The "Math and the rise of civilization" is also a pentaptych documentary. It won the Grand Prize (Presidential Prize) at the 2012 Korea Communications Commission Broadcasting Awards, the Best Picture at the 48th Baeksang Arts Awards, and the Special Achievement Award from the Korea Mathematical Society. As subtitled as ‘Mathematics is the key to enter all knowledge of the world’, this documentary is telling the history of mathematics, which became the cornerstone in many civilized countries. It rectifies misconceptions for mathematics only to be considered as the problem-solving skills and calculation itself, trying to approach the root to demonstrate why the numbers were born. Through the 'invisible numbers', it would like to tell the story of 'Real Mathematics', which has developed visible technologies and cultures to make the civilization created. "Part 1: The Beginning of Numbers" discusses the numbers that began in ancient Egypt. Using Egyptian calculating methods, hieroglyphics, etc., it explores the source that they could bloom the civilization 4,000 years ago. It also examines how Egypt, the first human civilized country, ruled the kingdom only with a single page of papyrus and how they coud acquire the technologies for distribution and measurement. "Part 2: The Elements" deals with Euclidean geometry. There is a book followed by the United States Declaration of Independence and 'Pricnipia' of Newton. It is the Euclid’s Elements. This book, which was compiled by Euclid and contains Greek philosophies and mathematics, has become the principles of all studies later. "Part 3: The Divine Numbers" lets us know the number 0 which opened the infinite world and the story of India, the God's country, where 0 was born. '0' led math to the infinite world, giving science the power to imagine the universe. This part tracks how '0', the best invention in human history, could come out to the world. In "Part 4: The Infinitesimal Calculus of Moving World", Britain and the continental Europe in the 17th century was drawn into the war of intellectual property rights. The academic worlds also stopped even their correspondence for 100 years. It was because of Newton in the UK and Leibniz in Germany. In the Infinitesimal Calculus, a magic that can explain everything changing with the equation, it explores who would be the winner, Newton or Leibnitz. The last "Part 5: The Remaining Issues" shows the future of mathematics. It examines modern mathematics via great mathematical problems, Fermat's Last Theorem and Poincaré Conjecture. ■ <Pythagoras Theorem> (Sep. 2008) The last documentary to be recommended is the "Pythagoras Theorem". It is a kind of mathematical civilization documentary, which is the first mathematical documentary examining the evolution of human civilization and the awareness through triangles. The civilization that has developed mankind for thousands of years contains the wisdom of life that has begun from a triangle. So this documentary tries to investigate the influence and possibility of mathematics on the development of human civilization through the Pythagoras theorem. In Part 1, the trace of a triangle is discussed. In Samos island of Greece, known as the birthplace of Pythagoras, there is a tunnel built about 2600 years ago. The tunnel, which was constructed to draw the waterway, was known as one of the three wonders even for ancient Greeks. It is the first tunnel in the human history that was completed by setting the direction in a straight line and digging from both directions! How could Greeks dig the straight tunnel even without any special equipment? The key to solve the secret was a right triangle. Part 2 is on A2+B2=C2. After discovering the clay tablets from Babylonian period in 1920s, mathematicians struggled to find out what the numbers written on tablets would mean. At last, the mystery has been solved. They were numbers that represented the length of three sides of a right triangle. Babylonian had already known the nature of a right triangle 3700 years ago, which we know as the ‘Pythagoras Theorem’ today. Then, why do we call it as the ‘Pythagoras Theorem’, the theory that had been already known thousand years before the birth of Pythagoras? The last episode is about the beetle on earth. The Pythagorean theorem is known as the most perfect and beautiful formula among mathematicians. However, it does not work for the space, but on a plane. The human vision that stayed in a triangle on the plane now moved to the space, called the earth. Based on this mathematical research, Einstein could unveil the secrets of the universe. As a stepping stone to solve mysteries of nature, mathematics is showing infinite possibilities. This documentary is highly recommended to middle school students who currently study the Pythagoras Theorem in class. While studying, watching a documentary about Pythagoras, but not just memorizing the formula, could help them more interestingly understand and enjoy mathematics. ■ Conclusion The "Numbers", the "Math and the rise of civilization", and the "Pythagoras Theorem" were broadcasted form shortly 3 years to 10 years ago. These days, when new contents are being released, why should we watch such outdated documentaries? These documentaries handle the stories of mathematicians who had lived thousands years ago. What they found out and learned is still valid even in 2018. Same rule could be applied to these documentaries. They are classical mathematics documentaries to watch again any time, which EBS is proud of. The 'Classics' are called classics because their value does not fade over time, but rather goes up. The value of EBS classical mathematics documentaries will rise as time goes on. Why don't you watch them before too late?

As of March 2017, including Facebook and YouTube, Video Village Channel has more than 18 million subscribers, with more than 130 million views per month for the entire channel video platforms. ▲ CarrieSoft is a kids content company that produces and provides kids' content. ▲ Sandbox Network is a digital entertainment company that connects creators and creates content. ▲ Video Village is not only doing MCN business but also making contents. These companies have similarities in delivering creator-centric content, but have used different strategies for growth strategies. CarrieSoft has focused on characters and has created content, and Sandbox Network has focused on the potential of creators and has chosen to help creators grow into content brands. On the other hand, Video Village started business without a representative creator, so it set up a content production system as well as fostering creators to create synergy. For the most difficult parts, they talked about the time when recruiting creators and growing. Also, at the time they started to grow as much as they originally planned, there were some troubles about production in the process of development after setting the next goal. According to the conversation, YouTube plays a role of ‘infrastructure’ in the process of business growth. Park Chang-shin, COO of CarrieSoft said, “YouTube provide opportunity to meet children and parents, and to connect with your relatives and communicate with family. In addition to the current broadcasting, I think that the success of the performances, the kids' cafes, the character licensing, etc. is based on YouTube.” Lee Pil-sung, CEO of Sandbox Network said, “Because YouTube is close to ‘infrastructure,’ it emphasizes creators' alignment to the direction YouTube is targeting. Because YouTube shows more of the videos that viewers want to see, I think it can get a good response when they want to show more good videos to viewers rather than using tricks or strategies.” Jo Yun-ha, CEO of Video Village talked about YouTube. “I think YouTube is a bowl that holds people's lives.” She said, “I was able to be free myself of loneliness while doing business by watching back data, image development sequence, and event about how I got into channel and grew.” On the other hand, as for the standard of creator recruitment, they emphasized that the creators must have a philosophy about what they want to talk while having a mission to create and show contents, since both contents and community are important. There are certainly people who start YouTube to become famous or chase money, but we are avoiding them because they are short-lived and do not have the value of content. We are looking for people with willingness and circumstances to work together on a sustainable and steadfast basis.
