Choi Sooyoung and Gong Myoung Confirm as Hosts of the 29th BIFF Closing Ceremony

The 29th Busan International Film Festival, held Oct 2 (Wed) to Oct 11 (Fri) at Busan Cinema Center, has announced actors Choi Sooyoung and Gong Myoung as the hosts of the Closing Ceremony.

Actors Choi Sooyoung and Gong Myoung, beloved for their exceptional performance and down-to-earth personalities, will host the closing ceremony of the 29th Busan International Film Festival. The ceremony, scheduled for Oct 11 (Fri), will take place at the BIFF Theater of the Busan Cinema Center, where the two actors will bring the ten-day film festival to a grand finale.

Actor Choi Sooyoung, who debuted as a member of the girl group Girls’ Generation, began her acting career with Unstoppable Marriage (2007). She has demonstrated a wide range of performances across various genres, including the films Miss & Mrs. Cops (2019), New Year Blues (2021), the drama Run On (2021), If You Wish Upon Me (2022), and the play Wife (2023). Through these versatile roles, she has solidified her position as an actor. Recently, she gained significant attention for her leading role as Kim Jinhee in the hit series Not Others (2023). Having showcased her smooth and witty hosting skills at numerous events, such as the Seoul Drama Awards 2018 and the Buil Film Festival 2022, she is set to shine as a host at this closing ceremony.

Actor Gong Myoung debuted with the web drama After School: Lucky or Not (2013). He received widespread attention by playing the role of Jaehoon in Extreme Job (2019), which hit a mega success of 10 million viewers, winning Best New Actor at the Chunsa Film Art Awards 2019. He has since delivered impressive performances through Hansan: Rising Dragon (2022), Killing Romance (2023), Citizen of a Kind (2024), and dramas Be Melodramatic (2019) and Lovers of the Red Sky (2021). Most recently, he has further secured his presence with his outstanding performance in A Week Before My Death, which was invited to the On Screen section of this year’s Busan International Film Festival. Gong Myoung will co-host the closing ceremony, marking the finale of the festival.

The 29th Busan International Film Festival will begin with the Opening Ceremony on Oct 10 (Wed) and proceed for ten days until Oct 11 (Fri) at Busan Cinema Center.
