Danish model, designer and photographer Helena Christensen joins Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody, and fashion designer Georgina Chapman in an electrifying weekend of motorsport ahead of Formula E’s race in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia tonight (Saturday).

Helena enjoyed a unique Formula E experience ahead of the Diriyah E-Prix, meeting reigning World Champion Jake Dennis and styling it out wearing an Andretti Formula E Team race suit.

Helena then powered away for an ‘electric lap’ in the Porsche Taycan Safety Car on the street circuit around the walls of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The model and designer was also given a private garage tour by James Barclay, Team Principal of Jaguar TCS Racing team, viewing the innovative all-electric GEN3 up close.

Helena joined Adrien Brody, star of The Pianist, Asteroid City and Succession, and his fashion designer girlfriend Georgina Chapman to cheer on the teams from the exclusive Formula E VIP hospitality area, the EMOTION CLUB.

Meanwhile, Brody – a huge motor racing fan, whose automotive passion started when racing drag cars in New York City while growing up – jumped at the chance to experience the Formula E GEN3 race car for himself on the track ahead of Friday night’s race, the first in the Diriyah E-Prix double-header.

Wearing a full racing suit, boots, gloves and helmet, Brody expertly handled the GEN3, taking the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electric race car ever built for an exhilarating spin around two laps around the 2.49km, 21-turn circuit.

Getting out on the track today in the Porsche Taycan safety car with more than 700hp was such a thrill. I grew up drag racing in NY and have had some track experience but getting behind the wheel in the Formula E GEN3 race car on the Diriyah Street Circuit gave me even greater appreciation and respect for the sport and for the talent and skill and competitive spirit that these drivers possess. There’s so much torque in these electric vehicles and they are so incredibly light, so it takes a really refined touch to feather it through the turns, and keep it from getting squirrely even when gunning it down the straightaway.”

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is the world’s most competitive motorsport, with races typically featuring more than 100 overtakes and last season’s title race decided on the final weekend. The 2024 Diriyah E-Prix double-header of races on Friday, 26 January and Saturday, 27 January took place at night under sustainable LED lighting.

Current Formula E world champion Jake Dennis won the first race of the double-header while Nick Cassidy of Jaguar TCS racing won the second race of the weekend.

Helena Christensen joins a long list of international celebrity race attendees at Formula E including: Usain Bolt in Mexico earlier this month, Adrien Brody, Leonardo DiCaprio, Idris Elba, Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora, Orlando Bloom and Ellie Goulding.

The next race in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is the 2024 São Paulo E-Prix on Saturday, 16 March.
