The ten winners of the CHANEL NEXT Prize, the second edition of the House’s international arts and culture prize, were announced today by the CHANEL Culture Fund.
The biennial prize is awarded to ten international contemporary artists who are redefining their disciplines. Each artist embodies CHANEL’s mission to advance the new and the next.
Each of the ten prize winners will receive EUR 100,000 in funding, allowing them to fully realise their most ambitious artistic projects.
As part of the prize, the winners will also access a two-year mentorship and networking programme facilitated by cultural partners of the House throughout the world, including the Royal College of Art in London.
Together, the winners originate from six countries across four continents, including the UK, US, Ireland, Brazil, Singapore and Georgia. They work across visual art, film, dance, video game design, performance, opera and digital art.
The NEXT Prize was established in 2021 as part of the CHANEL Culture Fund, CHANEL’s global initiative to accelerate the ideas that advance culture, extending the House’s century-long legacy of cultural patronage.
Yana Peel, the Global Head of Arts & Culture at CHANEL, said: “The Chanel Next Prize was founded to amplify the work of artists who are making a difference and redefining their disciplines. The second edition of the prize will celebrate and support ten such artists. Each is a catalyst and a pioneer. Each is disrupting established practice across a multitude of cultural fields, from art and opera to cinema and game design. Watching their creative journeys will be thrilling.”
